Founded in 2012, REAch2 Academy Trust is the largest primary-only academy trust in the country. It is a growing charitable organisation currently supporting some 55 primary academies across England.
Working with channel partner Silicon Reef, Attollo worked closely alongside their team to understand REAch2’s requirements, culture and their vision for their new intranet. REAch2 were committed to working with a trusted company to deliver a brand new intranet platform for the entire Trust which would be used by both central and academy staff alike, ranging from teaching staff to all forms of support staff.
They needed the intranet to support our ‘one’ REAch2 culture, helping staff to feel that they are all part of the same REAch2 family.
REAch2 needed a platform where key communications, news and campaigns can be launched and have an impact. Using the Attollo Intranet News Centre REAch2 powered all internal communications to the business. Using specific tags Attollo Intranet drove said news into relevant Department sites.
As part of the homepage, attractive links, carousel functionality continuously drove their key messages and were instantly visible upon landing on the intranet.
The Attollo People Finder enabled staff to connect with each other, collaborate and work smarter together by not only searching by name but also any other information included within a member of staffs personal profile.
Users have access to all the latest documents when they are added. Admins of the intranet have the ability to set key documents that they feel are important to the organisation – an example of adapting with the wants and needs of the business.
Highlighting achievements of fellow colleagues is a key importance to the culture of REAch2 – using the Staff Spotlight functionality enables users to see why someone has been highlighted, who they are and where they sit within the organisations hierarchy.
With the ability to extend the functionality they used the same widget to highlight the achievements of individual schools within the trust – offering a visual representation and some key information where employees can find links to find out more information.
Integrating social media platform Twitter was a further way to inform staff what is happening on the outside as well as the inside – showing a fully interactive timeline was important to keep everyone connected.
Using the Events Centre, all organisation events such as key training dates, connecting calendars we enabled the organisation to be transparent with key information.
During the Concept Phase we discussed the direction of the intranet and how the brand would play a part. Some organisations decide not to embrace their brands and go with something “different”. With the REAch2 brand being so strong they decided to bring key elements from their style guide into the intranet.
By doing this they wanted to continue to promote a sense of ownership, family and inclusion – everyone feels part of the experience from the moment they visit to the second they leave.
During the various workshops they created the name REAchin with the strapline Share, Collaborate, Learn – the key motivators for using the intranet.
Utilising the Useful Contacts functionality we created Key Contacts – a list of all the employees within that particular region. Content included role, contact number and email address for their information.
During the Content Planning workshops we soon realised that REAch2 had a range of different types of content that needed to be shown clearly and concisely.
Working closely with the REAch2 project team we developed a range of templates that went from being simple – showing content images, to more complex where we integrated widgets to enhance the experience.
Using our Google Maps integration we enable REAch2 to plot and link to all their academy locations all over the UK based on address or coordinates.
These were then linked to individual landing pages giving users a comprehensive guide to that location covering address, map info, facilities and targeted content such as news, events etc.
Using our Events Center we are able to drive targeted events to any page, REAch2 used this to target region so that all, in this case West Midlands events were show on its relative homepage.
